Problems with instrument panel
Hi all,
Lately my instrument panel has some pixels on the outside temp. monitor and on the gear indicator that randomly go off. At first I thought it was because high temperatures and leaving the car parked under direct sunlight (it used to happen to a beetle I had with temp. monitor near the sunroof), but its been quite hot and returns to normal. Its acting randomly. Everything measures correctly, though.
Would it be advisable to change the cluster, or just clean it with compressed air? Is it easy to dismount the cluster?

If you do a search on on mbforums and/or http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforu...isplay.php?f=1 you will find this is a common problem and can be fixed in several ways.
The cluster pulls out and you can buy or make a simple tool to do that.
Then you can:
Buy a new unit from MB (big bucks).
Have it rebuilt (upu'll find the place that does that for a couple of hundred $ in your search).
If you know now, you can find the faulty cold solder joint and re-solder it.

Thanks,
I think I'll go to any guy who fixes stereos with a multimeter and try to find the fault.
I'll let you know if I was succesfull or not

Deviltrick - if you are still under warranty, get it fixed by the dealer - they'll replace the entire cluster for you.

Guess I'll try to fix it and if that doesn't work, look for one on ebay.
