Angry Factory Radio Problem !

So, I drive alone on my way home from work in a rainy dark afternoon.

All the sudden, my radio/stereo just stop working; I mean there is no light on the on/off knob anymore. Tried and tried, it simply would not turn on.

Seems there is no power going to the unit now

I have taken a few images of the message I get on my dash display.

I find it hard to believe, I mean my car is a 2002 CLK 320 coupe W208

So I need everyone’s input here ! Where should I start ? Repair wise I mean.

Does the radio fuse burn off ? Please help, the silence in the car is killing me !

Where are the radio fuse located ? Diagram is much appreciated !

This happened to me as I was on my way to my great home state of NC this summer. I took it to the first MB dealer I could find and it was luckily....just a fuse. Actually, he took it out and put it back in and the radio just started working again. The tech said I probably have a shortage somewhere, but they would have to look at it more in detail to come to that conclusion...

Sorry, I don't have any idea where the radio fuse is...there is a fuse box on the drivers side underneath the light switch and one under the hood on the drivers side. He changed mine under the hood...I actually need a diagram for the fuses, my pre-owned '00 didn't come with one.

Hope this helps...The silence will drive you nuts!!!

Hey T,
I have an owner's manual in .pdf format. If you need it, let me know. Fuse locations should be in there. I also have a link for the bumper WE both need:
www.jjbumpers.com. $320 for OEM....

What's goin on E? I've been so busy trying to get papers done for school that I have acted as if my bumper is not a problem---silly me, right?? But I am going to seriously get around to it...and yeah, I do need that pdf...send it to my yahoo if you don't mind...

$320 is one w/o the fog lights...I actually like my fog lights...If I get factory, I wouldn't want to mess w/ the one we have now w/ the piece that goes in the middle...such a headache!!

Fuse locations are on the underside of the fuse box lid. See if your cigar lighter works, they run off the same fuse I believe.

Fog lights? Hmm. The AMG bumper may need a different set of fogs. Be warned because I think the pictures are WRONG. For instance, I think the one that says: "FRONT COVER 3.2L W/O WASHERS W/O AMG" has a picture of the AMG bumper without the headlight washer hole.
The one that says: "FRONT COVER 3.2L AMG/4.3L/5.5L W/O WASHERS" actually shows the OEM. That is unless I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, which is entirely possible!
(I'll need to call to get clarification on the AMG vs. OEM/pictures) You know I'll keep you posted.
I'll send you the owner's manual....

Off topic....

ThrillKill: Can you help CLK430girl and I on a quik bumper question? Can you do me a favor and go to jjbumpers.com. Look for their 2006 Catalog. When you open the catalog, (it's actually an Excel spreadsheet imbedded in a webpage) go to line/cell numbered 5264. 4 choices. AMG, AMG w/headlight holes, OEM, and OEM w/headlight holes. Click on the 'stock' numbers and you'll see pictures. I BELIEVE THE PICTURES ARE BACKWARDS! In other words, the ones that say 'AMG', if you click on the stock number, it shows a pic of an OEM bumper and vice versa. I'm sure a simple phone call would straighten it out but I want to sanity check with you first. I'd like to know if I'm trippin or not!

Thanks for sharing your experience CLK430 girl. I checked my fuse box in the engine compartment. Plug out the radio fuse then clean it and refit in back in. Wow La ! My radio is working again.

So I guess sometime the fuse does get poor connection.

I now blast my music in my CLK ..

Happy Owner again !
