Road Hazard

Rolling down an unfamiliar Downtown street the other night I came to the bottom of a hill....the intersection at which had a huge hump (the topside of a subway tunnel I think) I didnt slow down much and hit it pretty hard and sorta bottomed out . Anyway I hit pretty hard but everything seemed ok. This morning I noticed a pancake sized puddle under the car....consistancy was of motor oil but it was a little too clean looking. After further inspection I noticed that the bottom side of a "pan" (for lack of better description) was a bit wet and a small drip was forming on it.......

The location is directly underneath the cabin of the car (not forward / underneath engine) and seems to be smack dab in the center of the car near where the exhaust starts to run back.

I fear the worse of course and plan to take her in this week......does anyone think they may know what Ive damaged?

Thanks for the knowledge.

That sounds like the transmission pan. If so, I would highly recommend having the car towed. Transmissions run with no fluid get blue gears and fried clutch packs.

The upside is you'll get a tranny fluid change but yeah, like Marcus said I wouldn't drive anywhere unless you've get 4 or 5 thou laying around. You said the fluid was clean which is a good sign. How many miles? Lastly you spelled hazard wrong but that's ok 'cuz it reminded me of Daisy.

The Diagnosis....

Perhaps I should look into buying a Dodge Hemi for the well designed and engineered roadways/freeways here in downtown ATL....

That little launch over the subway tunnel blew out all my motor mounts, the trany mount, and busted up the pan and gasket.

$1600.00 will fix her. New motor mounts, trany mount, pan, gasket, filter and
trany fluid at a steal of a deal....$25 bones/Qt.

Ouch.....Lesson the hard way: Drive slower on unfamilar downtown streets at night.

As for the shocks.....it was the mounts that took the brunt of the force and the shocks survived.

Yikes, hate to hear about the $ loss...your tranny'll be in good shape though! Can't wait to get that exhaust!
