Instrument Cluster

Additional problem with my instrument cluster, one or two bulb died on me the other day just like that. I was wondering if any body knew where I can buy them, I really don't want to go to the MB dealer as I'm sure they will charge me an arm and a leg for them. I read here that you need a special tool to pull the cluster out, are they expensive? How hard are the bulb to find and replace once you pull the cluster out, anybody done it? Any feedback much appreciated. Thanks E

When I did this a bulb cost me about $6 at the dealer. I'm not really sure where else you can purchase them but it's not like it's that much. I think it cost maybe $20 for the hooks to pull out the cluster. Again, not that much. Once you have everything out it's not that hard. If you need to know how to pull it out, check out the DIY's on the other forum at Mr. Pie's chrome ring install.

Do a search....I've seen where you can make your own tool out of coat hanger wire or using suction cups to pull out the cluster to replace the bulbs.

Have you tried AutoZone or Advanced Auto for the bulbs?

When I had my BMW, they had a cross reference guide for all the bulbs I ever needed to replace.

Nevermind all that ^^^^^^^^^^^^ look just take a butter knife and gently slide on the bottom side of the cluster. Using your fingernails...pry against the either side and cluster will begin to slide out. Once you get the cluster out, the light bulbs twist out of their positions. I went to napa autoparts where they gladly gave me 2 for free to "try". If you pay more than a $1.25 for these little bulbs you paid way to much.
