Tire Rack

So guys/ladies,

Whats the deal with Tire Rack. They sponsor that forum and ask you to call certain reps and enter their names in the referal blacks when ordering online....whats in it for us? Do we as MBWorld Members get some sort of discount? Just in shopping and filling up the shopping cart the deals dont seem that fantastic and youve gotta pay shipping on top of that and then pay a third party for install?

Whats the payoff?

Thanks in Advance.

Matt

I think this website may get paid a lil more if a sale is referred from here maybe?
Somebody gets paid or gets the spoils, just not you or me.

The folks at Tire Rack answer all kinds of questions on these and many other boards. I am happy to put their name in the order for the info they provide.

I'm not picking sides. These are the reasons I buy from Tire Rack:

1) The Tire Rack has lower prices than I can find at my local retail outlets. If someone has a line on less expensive, brand name, performance rubber, please let us all know.

2) I pay shipping, but I don't pay tax. In all fairness, shipping on my last set of tires was more than the California tax would have been.

3) They are fast. On my last order, I placed the phone call at 2:00 PM PST. The tires were at my front door the next day. I didn't pay for next day delivery.

4) I have to pay for mounting either way, so it's going to cost me regardless.

5) Tire Rack does occasionally supply free gear with a set of tires, but it's the manufacturer that's actually giving gear away, so you have to ask.

6) Tire Rack reps are on car forums all across the net. They answer questions regardless as to whether it results in their getting a sale.

If there are reasons why I shouldn't use the rack, I'd like to know them. The best shop should get the business.

I've used the Rack several times for tires and rims and what Marcus says is correct.

I'm in Cali, too and like the quick, quality shipping and low prices, with no sales tax, although shipping costs almosts the same, except maybe by $2-3.
