Battery life under the current weather condition
We've been having terrible icy, cold, and windy weather condition here in Washingotn D.C. metropolitan and I haven't been able to drive my car since tuesday morning. I will be out of town tomorrow afternoon until next tuesday and my question is, do you guys think my battery would stay a live until next week? I started my car and let it idled last night for 10 mintues. Does idling the engine helps it to re charge or do I have to drive the car for 20-30 minutes??
It will be a total of 9days without moving the car. Keep in mind my 2000 CLKs parked outside on the drive way and its an original battery. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

i should stay alive *if* your specific gravity level is healthy and high. once this
drops, you have more water than acid concentrate and the freeze point rises.
if you can, pull the battery and bring it in the house. if you cant, charge up the
battery. if you cant, cross your fingers.
idling and driving only provides a surface charge....which...again...may do the
job provided your battery is heathy. the surface charge will not be enough if
your battery is currently weak. the only way to tell is to pick up a hydrometer
from the auto parts store. they sell for about $20. you can buy one for $5
for motorcycle battery but they're basically toys and not as accurate in reading.
