Here is a good shot of the new CLK DTM car incorporating the features of the 2003 CLk....Looks alot like the new SL from the front...wonder if it uses the new tail lights like the SL and E?

If that's what the new CLK will be modeled after...COUNT ME IN!! I do have a few questions though:

1. Don't you need a street legal, production version of the car in order to race the DTM series? If so, then that car cannot be more that a modified body style, since MB hasn't released the redesigned CLK yet.

2. If that DTM car IS redesigned, then does that imply that MB will release the new CLK for MY 2003 instead of MY 2004?

3. The current CLK cars are dominating the DTM series...why change anything? Audi has shown no signs of getting even close to challenging the DTM cars and drivers.

4. Will MB ever enter the American Le Mans series? I am sick of watching those M3s win, when I know that the CLK could give it a run for it's money.

I want MB to get into the ALMS with the CLK too.
Maybe they will when they come out with the next generation CLK?

As of now the 2002 DTM car will remain at a 450 hp V8...they were thinking of reducing the restrictor plate to allow for up to 500 hp but have decided against the change.

For those of you who may not have seen this info on the next generation CLK....here is a recent update:

Will be unveiled at Paris Auto Shoe September 28th.

First model receive the next generation direct injection engine.

Front end will mimic the CL coupe.

No "B" pillar

Cab version will have retractable HARDTOP ala SLK-SL

Brake by wire system standard

All new suspension design

4-matic drive optional

Air suspension optional

Rack and pinion steering

Confirmed: range topping AMG version will be 350+ HP V6 Kompressor
