Just changed tranny fluid on CLK and....
just got home from changing the tranny fluid on my 00 clk 320. it just hit
105k mi. the tech said the old oil was horrible! he said it was almost all black. so you definately know that supposed lifetime fluid is some b.s. he recommeded me changing it every 50k mi. once i got my car back,i definately felt my car a little smoother. total charge was $260 at an independent benz/bmw shop

Use the fully synthetic fluid at the dealer as they can flush out the fluid from the convertor. I'm not sure if there is a drain plug on our convertors or not but $250-275 is not a bad price for a flush and filter/fluid change given that the cost of the fluid and filter is going to set you back about $100. I haven't heard of the rear diff causing many problems for owners but a simple fluid extraction pump can evaculate the fluid and then just refill it with synthetic fluid.
