Oil Leak

I was wondering if you guys can help me out, I had the oil changed a few month back at the dealer and now that the weather got warm I was getting a smell from the engine bay, pop up the hood to find that oil is seeping around the oil filter enough to leave a residue on the engine block, any ideas what it could be, I was thinking to take it back to them. Any ideas.

thanks e.

Either they left the oil filter loose from wherever you had the last oil change done, or they didn't replace the large o-ring on the filter cap and its now old and leaking.

I would bet on the large ring..just unscrew the filter cap. It's real easy to do. You might find that they didn't even put it on when they did the filter. The filters come with the rings. I would just get one and replace the rings and see if that helps.
Check out this site for some good help

Update: went to the dealer yesterday and what do you know whoever did the oil change didn't not push the big o-ring all the way to the base of the filter cap. It took like 5 minutes for the tech to pull it out and put a new o-ring. Now I got to clean the engine bay, this really pissess me off have to do all this work because of them, of well at least is not leaking oil any more. Thanks for the replies.
