Power seat ECU repair info
If your power seats crap out on you, the part that fails inside is BTS409L1
SWITCH SMART HIGH SIDE SWITCH.
This is what controls the input on the ecu telling it what to do. The relays are generally never at fault. This switch handles the grunt and grind of everything coming into the unit and therefore can tend to fail after a few years.
You can see the PDF for this part here: http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/data...BTS409L1.shtml
You can see the burnt leg and tracers around the unit. Once you replace this and verify the tracers are back in order, your seat ecu should function well.

Is the BTS409L1 is inside the Power Seat Control Module?

My passenger seat control "Back & Forward" moves the seat only Forward, all other functions work. The programmed memory buttons moves the seat backward or forward as programmed. So I know it is not a problem with the motor and believe it is a problem with the Control Module.
Any suggestions?

so would this cause the seat not to pull forward when you lift the lever? Cuz when someone gets into the back through the driver side the lever will go up but the seat wont budge.

The Jury I know this might sound like a dumb question but where can I go to buy this little piece BTS409L1. I guess if I buy 2 of them, and remove the ecu from under both seats, unsolder the part and resolder the new BTS409L1 then they should start working again, but where do I go to buy these little BTS409L1? Some kind of electronic store, RadioShack? I dont know but if you do pls pass the information because I can't see this small part costing that much, because the ecu itself is expensive and if you buy a used one from ebay it'll cost you $120 and who knows when that one will crap out, so this is the best way to go, I'm sure the relays haven't gone bad. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Trying to search the net...
Baby,
I found a couple of places that recognize the number.
Show no stock and to call, but maybe they can get you in the right direction.
Advertised for 154 pennies. Not bad.
http://app.arrownac.com/aws/pg_webc/...rch_type=click
Found this one too, but it looks like they deal in bulk. ($100 minimum?).

I hope it helps,
John

BTS409L1 Supplier

It looks like they order them from somewhere else - not on hand, you'll have to call them.

Is this module pictured located under the seat or in the door?
Is the BTS409L1 is inside the Power Seat Control Module?

from what I understand its the seat control unit under the seat. I've gotten under there and took everything apart and played with all the plugs...checked out everything and it seems that something is bad inside the seat control unit b/c when I flip flop the relays, my seat will actually go back and forward.
The module itself is $330 from MB (my price) and almost $500 retail.

I have found a workaround for this problem.
I press the control button back and down the same time (press down the back side of the button, like turn it anticlockwise for the left seat).
Then it can move back.
If you try just back first, and you have move more than 2-3cm the seat front, then workaround does not work anymore. Take off car key for about 10min to retry the workaround.
I don't know if this workaround works for other MBs too. Sorry for my bad English.

so I bit the bullet and bought the $600 part from the dealer (driver seat ecu/control unit) and it didn't fix *****
So I took it back out, flipped a few plugs around and now my up/down function makes my seat slide back and forth. Must be the switch that's fkin up. But now I have this control unit with no purpose.
If anyone is interested in purchasing, shoot me a PM

Can you please tell me how to flip flop[ the relays on the seat control module? what they look like?
I pulled the lever to let my son in the back on driver seat, seat went forward, however when I let lever down, seat did not slide back. it is stuck in forward position and seat will not recline all the way back. Dealer told me today need a new seat control module over 800 installed. seat will rise up and down, recline back only a certain portion however fore/aft will not work, and dealer thinks this part of module is nto working.
maybe if I can flip flop relays I can get seat back and it will allow me to recline back, i am 6 ft so I cannot drive, andyhelp on flip flopping relays to get seat back would really really help
