lowering with springs?

im getting a set of coilovers from a friend that fit my car in early september. i just bought a set of eibach pro kit springs on ebay for a very low price. they will lower the car 1.2 inches all around. can i put on just the springs with no after market shocks for a few months until i get the coil-overs? would this cause any potential problems?
also, im still not quite sure just what spring pads are. do i need them too? if so what size does what? as always, thanks for any input!!!

I'm running the Brabus springs with OEM shocks, with no problems. W208 shocks are stronger than most people give them credit for.

The Brabus springs are made by Eibach, so this would be a comparable situatiion with yours. Good luck, but you should not have any problems.

there are a couple of companies that make them. at least 3. mine will be from a company called 'd2 racing'.
has anyone ever heard of problems resulting from running just springs?

Yes. Eventually, using lowering springs without matched dampers will cause issues. Have you considered saving all your 'mod' money and putting it towards a CLK430 or 55?

Now don't get wrong me on this, but bare with me, I hear that Eibach springs are only good for about a year or so? That they are really not that good of quality but they are good in performance, So in comparison to the H&R Springs, which would be a better choice in quality, durability, performance and ride quality wise?
