Koni Shocks

For those of you that have Koni adjustable shocks, how do you like it? And what setting do you have it on. The roads in Montreal and NYC are not the greatest. I currently am about to purchase them, with use with my already installed H&R sport springs. One last thing, is the length shorter than stock shocks and does it lower the car anyfurther?
Thanks again

Koni Shocks are adjustable, so that gives you an opportunity to change the ride characteristics to how you like, along with changing the performance level of the car. I really like the Koni's I have them on my BMW and I am about to get them for my Mercedes. I like having the adjustability!

Springs control the ride height, Shocks control the Ride!

On my BMW I drive on the street with them set at 1 turn from full stiff, at an autocross, depending on course design and lay out, they are set at full loose, or I may go up to 1 full turn. On a Race Track, they are usually set at full stiff, or a half a turn from full stiff.

The length of the shock is shorter, which allows the shocks to work properly with your H&Rs. I recommend setting the shocks to their 2nd setting. I originally had mine set all the way to firm. IT WAS NOT COMFORTABLE

YES! Bisltein HD shocks come stock on a CLK55. Switching from them to a Koni or Kleemann will show great improvements.

After I installed my Konis, I had a lot of rubbing issues, especially up front. Wound up rubbing the paint off the inner edge of the fenders, and actually getting dents in the metal from hard cornering/hitting a bump in a turn. My shop had no explanation for the cause, as my H+Rs and Konis should have been fine together.

Thanks Newbie, I have the same set as you with the H&R, hopefully it won't rub. What spring pads do you have? I am currently running with 19's
Thanks

I was using the stock spring pads, but I can't remember the numbers. According to my wheel shop, they were the thickest possible.

By the way, I wish I'd gotten Konis early on- they make a big difference. I had mine set on #1 at first which made the car nearly as soft as with the stock shocks, and then I had them bumped up to #3, which was a blast. I'd hesitate to go with 4 or 5, especially on questionable city streets and/or with larger wheels- that's just asking for trouble. Have fun!
