If they're original, the plugs were due two years ago. They have a 5 year OR 100,000 mile life span. If you're going to change them yourself, the plugs can be purchased for $7.50 each at the dealer with MBCA discount. The discount is considerably more than a year's membership in the MBCA. If you want the dealer to install the plugs, you definitely want to consider a membership because the discount on parts AND labor for that job must be more than it costs for a couple of years membership+.

$1,000?.... you have got to be kidding me...
There is a DIY on the Spark Plugs on here as well, I dunno where the link is right now but when I find it I'll post up or maybe Marcus might have it who knows.
1k for Plugs change/install is definatelly and is out of this world.

I just changed my plugs about a month ago and I have to say that IT IS A PAIN IN THE A##...but I saved alot of money using the DIY posted on this forum.
I do recommend getting a good spark plug wire puller that has a good 45 or maybe even a 90 degree angle on the tip of it. This will help out tremendously when pulling the wires from the back two plugs. There is not much room to work there as it is and the pullers made it easy. I tried without them for about 45 minutes till I gave up and went to Autozone and spent 15 bucks on the pullers. My plugs were worn the hell down so I am glad that I replaced them. My car runs much smoother now..OH and go ahead and buy some Mass Airflow Sensor cleaner while you are there. Clean that sensor while you have it taken apart. OK OK thats enough for now

riannausa,
Yes you do need 16 spark plugs / twin plugs per cylinder.
The Mass Air Flow sensor is located at the rear of the intake manifold just under the air filter / air box assy. This piece which pops right off.
Then look to the back of the engine where the rubber air seal pulled off for this piece which is oriented with the waffle grille facing straight up.
Hope that helps.

Turn a wrench.
Go on.
Turn a wrench.
It'll make a man out of you.
I did it.
Here's my instructional.

PS. Internet Explore configuration will downsize/resize jpg images.
To get rid of this annoying Bill Gates feature,
Go to: Start/Settings/Control Panel/Internet Options/Advanced (tab)
Scroll down to the heading: Multimedia
Remove the checkmark from: Enable Automatic Image Resizing
Select: Apply, then OK
Now, you can see the real thing, instead of what Bill Gates wants you to see.
If you ever want to change it back to teeny tiny images, just put the checkmark back in.
