Exclamation Shaking?

Ok! i have a 2001 clk430 and a week ago while i was about to stop (stepped on brake on a stop light) the car started shaking specially after im fully stopped. it just shakes for a minute then it goes away. then one time it started shaking again and when i stepped on my gas to start moving again the car did not wanna respond like it was choking or drowning & doesn't wanna move. WHat could be causing this??? it only happens ones in a while! but when it happens its kinda scary!

Any suggestions??? Greatly appreciate any suggestions!

sounds like the MAF to me. Try Panchos cleaning method...works fine.

I have been experiencing this problem recently too. It started out to be minor, where the shaking occured once in a while and the car would rarely not respond.

Then it became to a point where the car would almost never respond and everytime I tried to floor the car, it wouldn't respond and it would choke. Once this happened, the car started shaking severely, and kept shaking until I restarted the car.

Everyone thought it was the famous MAF problem, I thought it was too, had my mechanic check it out, the MAF was fine.

It turns out that my left side motor mount was broken. It was all torn up and the fluid in the mount was leaking.

Ideally what happened was that when you pressed on the gas, the engine would go higher than usual, and it would block the maf and would not let enough air to get through and would always cause the car to misfire.

So I would say first check the maf & then the mounts.

The part cost me $86 from the Mercedes Benz dealership & labor was about $100. So it's not too expensive, but I did not get it put in at the Mercedes dealership, my mechanic did all the work.

It could be the trans mount, or possibly the crank sensor. does your check engine light come on?

trans mount is about 30$ online?...yea motor mounts are bout 90$ each and are a ***** to install yourself...make sure they check BOTH engine mounts and the transmission mounts...

Well if it's possible Rianna, post a vid of it shaking...

But how bad of a shake is it? Like rocking the whole car all around...little rocking here and there? Maybe your running some mods we dont know and the engine just wants to jump out of the engine bay? (jk)

Hmm that's a tough one...never heard of something like that especially when you've already checked the mounts...the MAF...but like prznskillz and droptop208 said, definately check the trans mount maybe?

Also check the Spark Plugs, suprised nobody has mentioned that....maybe one of the Spark Plugs went bad?

Exclamation Thanks

the shaking only happens every once in a while and when it does its after i make a stop right on the intersection. it does feel like the whole car is shaking but when you put it in neutral then back to drive it goes away. i have to check the spark plugs it just looks like a pain to take them out myself.

if its not shaking in neutral but it is in drive at a stop it is the engine mounts...replace both and do transmission mount as well...a way to test if it is the engine mounts are to have some one step on the gas and brake (while its in drive) and see if the engine rotates to the left or the right, if there is any movement from side to side, it is the engine mounts...make sure u dont hit the gas too hard lol...goodluck...common problem after about 80k miles...

Had the same feeling in my car. I replaced my left motor mount, it was broken/torn and all the fluid inside it was leaking. Now my car feels smoother than ever, no shaking whatsoever.

$100 to change a MAF? Man don't do that again - it takes less than 2 mins. to replace with no tools...

Well if it doesn't show any signs of damage, then I don't see a point in replacing them.

Did you check the mounts yourself or did you take it to a mechanic?
