Then you might have a defective trunk switch on the car. It is situated to the left of the lock mechanism. If you open the trunk, you should be able to see it. Try to disconnect 1 wire and close the trunk. Then try your remote again.

i had a problem similiar....my light would constantly be on i thought it was tht switch...was 5$ at dealer replaced it...but still continued...the hinges are loose imma have to tighten everything up...goodluck...

do you have a convertable? Had/have the same problem....sometimes(rarely) when I use my top, the trunk will not open with remote or inside the car. I would have to redo putting the top down or up and then it works.

I'm not saying this will work, but have you had someone try and put some pressure on the trunk and then trying to release it again? Takes two people, but could be worth a shot.
