MYTHBUSTERS DYNO run w/ 430 and different intakes!!!

thanks in advance for the helpful hints.
This tube is the same used on the ML320,430,55/ w210 E430,320 & CLK320.
The airboxes are different for the different chassis. Therefore the "right" one for a 208 is the CLK320 air box.
They can only suspend your license in VA since it is a commonwealth but the jail time is the biggest deterrent. Will the adaptive throttle be reset just before the festivities begin?
I hope someone brings a camera.

So...bottom line is the 320 intake and the 55 intake give bout the same numbers COLD. But the 320 box should stay cooler. It is also much cheaper to buy and requires only 1 K&N filter rather than 2 like the 55 setup. So same power gain at a fraction of the cost along w/ staying colder longer. The negatives are that it doesn't look as pretty as the 55 box. Also, you have to extend the MAF connector w/ some wires. Not a big deal if you can buy 5 colored wires and butt connectors. Just crimp, connect and go. Mbenzman can tell you more if he'd like. If you polish your manifold like he did the 320 box looks sweet. Takes a long time though. Post some pics and #'s guys!
The CLK320 box was applied last due to the time it took to modify greggs car. Therefore it was dynoed later in the day and every single test we did resulted in lower figures because we were into the afternoon heat. I had brought the laptop to play with the timing and no matter whether I advanced or retarded his cars timing, every dyno yielded lower numbers and going back to his original tune still brought even lower numbers.
This was still the best comparision, and if I were to changed anything, I would have prepped greggs car prior to doing it at the dyno to minimize the delay between the runs and dyno the clk320 setup first.
Even Zacks car with it exhaust, chip tuning and 55 box with K&N's pulled lower numbers being dynoed after we finished using Greggs as the mule.
Vadims idea didn't work, a 55K box with K&N's wouldn't fit, You would need an adapter to make it fit on the maf! So no dyno results there.
We didn't try K&N's in a stock 430 box, but the bottom line is that 430's don't need much more air than any of the boxes provides unless you do something fairly radical demanding much more airflow! Just put K&N's in your stock box, or the 320 setup if your going to mod. you car.Rich
-SpeedtuningUSA ECU tune
-CLK55 AMG intake w/ K&N's (almost new filters)
-Eisenmann exhaust
and my 19" wheels, probably a little loss there.
-CLK55 intake w/ Green filters
-Evosport pullies
-Eisenmann race
Could you give me the part number from the Y-pipe off yours please. The air box was from my E55K and would not even come close to fitting. If your Y-pipe fits directely on the maf without any kind of adapter, then I need that part # as it has a larger opening.
Thanks,
Rich
