Karl - What's your problem with Zaino... ever use it?? If you know anything about detailing you would know that Zaino is one of the best synthetic waxes on the market.

Klasse kicks a@% also.

V1 & Zaino go hand in hand: They are fine products, -- but WAY overrated!

I use NU FINISH, the once a year synthetic polish.
It takes me ONE hour twice a year to apply. My car outsparkles many. Even my service advisor wanted to know, "Karl, what product are you using on your AMG to produce such an outstanding lustre and sparkling exterior finish?"

Yes: NU FINISH for $6.49!

http://www.nufinish.com/products.html

PS:
I have been using NU FINISH polish for over 20 years on all of my cars, - a fine product.

nubomb.. Have you used the Zaino "Polish lok"? Do you use this before you use there polish for the first time? My car has never been waxed or polished because I hardly drive it. It usually just sits in the garage. I know I need to wax it and I had been looking into the Zaino line of polishes. It is not very expensive at all! If I am going to detail my car I want to use the best. It's only about $6.50 more a bottle than karl k's brand. I feel as karl k said "V1 and Zaino go hand in hand" Just kidding karl k But I do like my V1!!

GBD - Go to their website for detailed application instructions.
http://zainobros.com/

The Z-1 polish lok goes on first and does not need to be wiped off. Apply the Z2 or Z5 right over it.

If you buy the ZFX, then you don't need the polish lok. Mix the ZFX with the Z2 or Z5. This dramatically cuts down the drying time but is more expensive. The more coats you put on the better the shine.

Nu Finish is a good product also, it has some cleaning ability along with providing a nice shine and protection, but it doesn't go on my Benz. Zaino is not abrasive so it won't "clean" the cars paint. You would have to use another product for that.

I enjoy spending a couple hours outside detailing my car and I want the best shine that's why I prefer Zaino (for my Metallic Silver) and Klasse (for my black car).

ZAINO is a WAY of LIFE!! What- a Life??

TIPS & TRICKS TO MAKE YOUR CAR A SHOWCAR!

Apply Zaino Bros' Show Car Polish to a clean 100% cotton towel or
applicator. We have found the best way of applying Show Car Polish is with
our #314 Custom Polish applicator. Just slightly dampen the applicator with
water or Z-6 "Gloss Enhancer" spray. Apply Show Car Polish directly to
applicator. This technique will help increase flow and spreadability on the paint
surface and yield more coats per bottle. Please use Show Car Polish on all
wheels, metal, chrome, painted trim and plastic lenses. Remove with a clean
100% (Made in USA) Large Bath size White cotton towel, turning towel
frequently until all polish is removed. A large towel is necessary to completely
remove polish. You will see a "wet-looking" crystal-clear, ultra deep gloss.
Note:

TRICKS:

Want people to envy the look of your vehicle. Want that Show Winning Edge
and Custom Paint Look. Want the deepest, wettest, slickest, clearest,
richest, and shiniest paint ever. Apply two more coats of Show Car Polish.
Show Car Polish will continue to get deeper and wetter with each succeeding
coat, up to five coats. You can however, apply as many coats as you want of
Show Car Polish. You will not believe the depth and optical clarity of the
wet-looking gloss. Follow up with Z-6 "Gloss Enhancer" Spray between every
coat of Show Car Polish and see how Incredible your vehicle looks!

Want an even higher level of optical light refraction and reflectivety. Here's
how. When applying Show Car Polish do the following; On all Top surfaces of
vehicle, use a back and forth motion (from front bumper towards windshield).
On all Side surfaces (doors, fenders, etc.) use a vertical motion, up and down.
This technique will increase the way light attracts and reflects off of Show Car
Polish. The body lines and contours of your vehicle will seem to glow. This
trick really works. Remember to use Z-6 "Gloss Enhancer" spray between
every coat of Show Car Polish.

TIPS:

Zaino Bros' Z-5 is the first non-abrasive polish that will eliminate swirl marks,
fine scratches and spidering, without hurting the integrity of the clear coat. It
does this in stages, anywhere between 1 to 5 coats, depending on vehicle
color. With each application of Z-5 polish, you will see the swirl marks and
fine scratches gradually lessen, until the marks are no longer visible and your
paint will look flawless. Z-5 can be used initially or at anytime thereafter. You
should switch to Z-2 as soon as you are happy with the way the paint finish
looks. Example, no more swirls, scratches etc. It's up to you. Z-2 has higher
optical properties than Z-5. You can switch from Z-2 to Z-5 and then back to
Z-2 as often as you want. All Show Car Polishes are 100% compatible. For
the highest optical paint enhancement. You should always end up with Z-2 as
the last coat of polish.

Zaino Bros' Z-6 Ultra Clean "Gloss Enhancer" Spray is the ultimate
maintainence product. It will remove light dust and soil between washes and
will make your paint slicker, wetter-looking, deeper and reinforce the polish
system and UV protection. Because of its unique optical enhancers, Z-6
"Gloss Enhancer" spray will create a three dimensional, ultra-high, light
refracting paint finish. Its super anti-static properties will reduce dust and dirt
pickup by up to 60%. The more you use Z-6 "Gloss Enhancer" spray the
slicker and more dust-free your paint will be.

NOTE: Z-6 "Gloss Enhancer" spray is really a great product. It really helps
give a three dimensional look. Its antistatic formula will reduce dust and dirt
pickup by 60%. Use Z-6 very sparingly, less than one ounce will do your
whole car. Lightly mist only the center of a 1 foot section on the car. A dime
size amount of Z-6 is plenty... Immediately buff with a 100% cotton towel until
dry. You will feel the surface get slicker and slicker. Turn towel frequently.
Repeat on next section until entire car is finished. Do not let Z6 dry on car. If
Z-6 drys by itself just reapply Z-6 to affected area and rebuff until completely
dry. Then get the sunglasses out. Less than one ounce will do an average
size vehicle. Works great on rims, chrome, trim and plastic.

Zaino Bros' Z-7 Show Car Wash will clean heavy soil from your car and
deposit a reinforcing layer of polish and UV protection. It will not leave a film or
haze like other car washes. Its great for maintaining that Show Car look, all
year round.

Zaino Bros' Z-10 "Leather in a Bottle"tm will maintain new leather and give old
leather, the look, supple feel and smell of brand new leather. It contains the
highest quality, leather oil concentrate available. Nothing on the market beats
this product! Works great on vinyl interiors and dashboards.

Zaino Bros' Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish is great for restoring old glass to like
new, using a low speed machine with a cotton bonnet.

Zaino Bros' Z-16 Perfect Tire Gloss is a non-oily, non-greasy, rubber
protectant and finishing treatment. It leaves an incredibly durable, water
repellent, perfect looking satin finish, that's only slightly glossy and dry to the
touch. Use on all exterior rubber, tires, moldings, plastic trim,
weatherstripping, underhood hoses and more. Just wet a sponge with Z-16
and apply to the surface to be treated and let dry. It will last thru rain and
multiple washings. Z-16 is not recommended for interior seats or vinyl tops.

Zaino Bros' recommends using only Large Bath size 100% Made in USA
White Cotton towels with all of our products. Cotton T-shirts are too small for
polish removal and not as absorbent or fluffy as towels and most contain
polyester. We have found that certain towels; especially those manufactured
abroad, although they say 100% cotton. They are not; they include a blend of
polyester and nylon that will definitely scratch and leave swirl marks in your
paint finish. The rule of thumb is to use high quality Brand Name large bath
towels (Cannon or Fieldcrest) that say 100% cotton and made in the USA.
Towels sold in bags in Auto Stores are not 100% cotton. Look carefully on the
bag it will probably say made in Pakistan or Bangladesh or other foreign
country. Do not use these towels. They will cause swirl marks and scratches
on the paint surface. Always, remove the stitching around the towel prior to
use. Bargain store polish applicators also contain polyester and nylon fibers
and are not to be used. Also, when washing your towels, please do not use
any type of fabric softeners. Always use White towels. Do not use Colored
Towels they contain dyes.

Valentine's site also says that it's the only one with two actual radar antennas and laser sensors. I guess everyone else uses the same to process the signals?

Has anyone had good experience with the Escort ZR3 "Laser Shifter"? I saw a few people had it installed but have they ever been saved by it? Seems like a V1 + ZR3 would be the best combo even though it would mean two displays instead of one (integrating with 8500).

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
If you're keeping your car for a while...

I have not seen anything cooler than the rear view mirror install. No cables or anything to mess with. To me, I'm not worried about someone chasing my mirror display, as it's been my experience that Joe Lunchbucket is going to tail any nice car he sees going at a rapid rate, assuming that he's got a detector. The old setup that Ultrasmith used to use with the signal strength meteres mounted in the instrument cluster was/is also really neat. Does Barry still do that?

V1 vs 8500?
I am using both ones and my favorite installed on my S500 is 8500 x50
Performance-wise, New 8500 X50 outperforms V1 in almost every aspect.
V1 hardcore fans - I was one of them previously, would scream - Directional Arrows!!! They are cool, no doubt...
The only dumb problem is that once you getting tracked - you must slow down - no matter where the cop is.

BTW, just found a report on SpeedZones

THANK YOU!!!...THOSE FREAKING ARROWS ARE USELESS!...i dono bout you guys but once you hear it go off - you slow down.....even if i was catchin a signal from the back - im guna slow down.......arrows are pointless IMO!....and for you more "adventurous" ppl who would ignore a signal from the back - the radar can bounce off buildings and other objects which can falsely tell you that you're catching radar from the back ...

also..where should i hardwire it too - dome light or cigarette lighter?
last question...i have the hardwire with the mute switch that i want on the left side dash....so do i just run the wire along the A-pillar and the roofline if i have it hardwired to the domelight??

Here is a great site for review, test and tips on installs. There is a video on hard wiring the system. I have a couple times almost went the way of V1 but one thing I heard which turned me off besides the size was that radar bounces which makes the arrows useless. It will never be a clear winner, those that like V1 will sing V1 and those that like the Escort will always sing Escort. The radarbuster site puts them very close with an edge to the 8500 but I would bet in real life you are talking feet.

Ok just got mine done very simple maybe took 10 mins. Here is what I did:
1.Mounted the 8500 on the right side of the mirror just out side the black out on the window. Hard to see from the front works perfect.

2. slipped the flat cord up under the plastic all the way to the drivers side a pillar. There is a seam between the A pillar plastic and the roof material that I slipped it between and then ran it under the rubber weather strip down the A pillar.

3. Took off the fuse panel cover and the second fuse lower row is hot when the key is on/dead when off. Clipped off the spade, pulled the fuse and gave a soft twist to the wire and folded it over the spade of the fuse and slipped it back in.

4. The two 14mm bolts right by there just loosen one slip the negative under it and tighten.

5. I then mounted the little smart button just above the vent by the A pillar by sliding the wires up. Extra just zip tie and tuck in the fuse area.

6. Put the cover back on and bingo your covered.

Wire it to the overhead light.

Here is the link.

Look at "Valentine One Installation Guide (W208 CLK)"

I had mine this way for nearly 6 years.

When you got yours hard wired, does your detector freak out about low batt and makes an annoying beep for warm up? My hard wire in my Chev has no problem, I do the fast on and it just gives a single beep.
