ipod hookup to factory stereo

i want to hook up my ipod to my factory stereo. i dont have the command system. i havent pulled the radio out but i doubt theres rca jacks or any sort of aux input behind it, correct? the in-line fm transmitter sounds like my only option. so, if i unplug the antenna from the back of the radio, am i going to need an antenna adapter in order to put the fm transmitter into the back of the radio? are there any other option for ipod that i am missing? (aside from getting another radio) thanks

I posted this a while back https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class-w208/149795-make-mp3-ipod-input-stock-headunit-under-20-a.html If you have a tape deck this is your best bet Fm transmitters suck serious A$$ I recently installed a windows media center media player in the dash using this. It works well without interruption or error.

Do not use an FM modulator! I tried every brand out there and they all sucked with the Benz radio. The tuner would never lock in and stay focused, always sounded like it was off tune by .1 on the frequency selected. The cassette insert type works more consistantly but is limited to cassette head to adaptor contact alignment. Not to mention the mediocre frequency response of the cassette player. I am looking for the best solution as well since I really don't want to remove the head unit and go aftermarket.

Cassete adapter sounds great to me. I was a little worried about the quality before I did it, but to my surprise it sounds waaaaayyyyy better than the tuner. It varies by device though because when I had my psp hooked to it the sound was trash from everything. When I put in the media center which cost considerably more the sound was awesome. Great bass response and no noticeable distortion. I think the tape deck is the only way to go if you wanna keep the stock headunit.

Being that there are so many standard head unit lovers, it surprises me that no one can yet tell me the make of the standard head unit in a CLK

I think it depends on the year and your package. What year is your car? Google is your friend http://www.carstereohelp.com/mercedes.htm you should have no trouble finding yours here as they have the pics of the stock headunits along with the make and model numbers.

Exclamation FM inline modulator

I have an FM modulator in my VW and I think it works better than the cassette adapter. Unlike the ones that transmit to your radio, well - this one does that too but it is added to the antennae wire. You plus this into the radio and the antennae into the FM modulator.
