A couple squeaks

A couple annoying squeaks/chirps in my 01 CLK55.

The first is when I have the HVAC on. There is a high pitched, constant squeal/squeak when the fans are on. I have seen some talk about this, but haven't found a specific resolution. The sound is much louder outside the car (when REST is on). Sounds like it comes from dead center right at the bottom of the windshield.

The second is when I make left hand turns. This one is more like a high-pitched, constant chirp. It happens sometimes during even a slight left turn to change lanes. My pre-purchase inspection indicated minor wear on the lower ball joints, but not enough to warrant replacement at the moment. Could this be the source of the noise?

Thanks!

I had the first one. The dealer replaced the blower motor and voila.. no more chirpy/squealing noise.

Thank God for warranty...

Anybody know how difficult it is to get to the blower motor? I've seen that in some cars, it's accessible behind the cabin air filter, and in others you have to pull apart the interior trim.

I could be wrong but I think on the W208 you can access it by taking out the wiper assembly (from the engine compartment area)...

Anyone else?

Replacing blower motor

The blower motor is hiding behind the wiper motor which is hiding behind a bunch of panels. You probably only need the motor which can be found without the squirrel cage fans for about $120.
I just replaced a wiper assmebly. it took me 1.5 hours to remove the wiper assemble and about 2 hours to put it all back together.
I am *not* a MB technician, I am a computer programmer.
So if i can do it...
