instrument cluster swap

you all know the digital temp and clock/gear selector displays go bad on the w208 clk clusters. my friend works for benz and is hooking me up with a used cluster cheap. he said that theres no way to program the mileage thats on my car into the new cluster. is that true? if so, i take it the people who got new ones replaced under warranty start back at 0 miles?

The dealer should have a computer that can reprogram the new odometer.

A dealer will set the mileage on a brand new odometer. I've never heard of a dealer that will do so with a used one.
