Escort 8500 radar detector
Ive had the escort 8500 for like 2-3 years now and its been great until lately. Ill have it on for a while, then it goes into this self calibration mode and keeps beeping. Sometimes after its done doing this, it will say MAINTENENCE REQUIRED or something like that. Sometimes it doesnt but i have a feeling that its still not working so i dont trust it. Anybody have any clues or know anywhere to take it in SOCAL? Or is it time to throw it away and get another. Whats the best radar out there now days?

Why not contact ESCORT in OH? They're they ones who will fix it.
Assuming it's an 8500 X50, it's certainly worth fixing and may be superior to latest version they're selling.
I believe they've got a $60 flat repair fee.

+1...my 8500 x50 blue started saying the same thing so i just bought a new red one...the blue one is in the process of getting fixed from escort now for $60...
