Leaking Soft Top Hydraulics
I have just bought a 2003 CLK430 Conv, which is a fabulous car. Sadly, the soft top hydraulics have sprung a leak. The bow lock is leaking from the piston and the soft top no longer lowers/raises - the switch flashes when trying to lower the top. The part number is 129 800 16 72. Has anybody had experience with this part, whether it is repairable or whether they have done the replacement themselves?
I've stripped the rear of the trunk out and have access to the pump and the faulty lock. The weather here is just perfect for roof down motoring and the wife is getting on my case!

Managed to complete the repair this weekend. I bought the new part and changed it for the old leaking one. The main difficulty was unscrewing the piston from the locking device and screwing the new one in. A small open ended spanner just managed to do the trick. With the new part in place, I opened and lowered the hood four times to self bleed the system and now all seems to be working fine.

Where did you get the part? I had mine done at the dealer this past spring while in Germany. They said previously the part was only available as a complete unit and only recently has Mercedes started offering it has individual parts.
They said the hardest part was removing the entire rear seat, etc.
