Comand

Is there any way to 'reboot' my nav (2002 clk 430). When I input a destination, the map does not match up to where it is supposed to go... I have not driven my car in about 2 months... will that matter??? will my nav get 'out of sync' over time without starting it?

I don't exactly understand what you're trying to say with "the map does not match up to where it is supposed to go." I don't think it will get out of sync as it matches the location acquired from the GPS satellites with the list of locations in the map stored in the CD. As long as the information being received from the GPS satellite is accurate, it should be able to tell the general vicinity you are in. As for precision, i.e. distance from a road, intersection, etc., , you can calibrate it by going under the Settings menu (in the Navigation Menu, I believe) and tell it how far away you are from an intersection ahead.

ah sorry about my vagueness... I was a bit out of it last night. I am refering to the blue plotted course that is created when you input a destination. The actual car location on the map is fine. For example, if I'm currently in Southwest Houston and input a destination to Northeast Hoston, the plotted course will have the correct 'shape' of the correct path, but the whole blue path will be rotated like 30-40 degrees off counter clockwise (the flag will actually be in Northwest Houston). The actual directions spoken while on the road is fine, just not the plotted map

the map rotates according to what direction the car is headed...if the car is traveling exactly NW then the map will be rotated 45 degrees counter clockwise.....is that what you are referring to?

the map is actually correct when moving about... only the plotted course is messed up... if i make any turn, the messed up plotted course will turn with it, but with the same degree of wrongness ... i hope i'm making sense. Maybe the simplest thing is to just bring the car in... but that's a pain.

you could try a couple of things.....first, drive 'gansta' style by leaning towards the door and tilting the head to the left. This way the perspective might be correct. Second, reset the Comand...or as you called it reboot. This can be done as follows:

1. turn on comand.
2. wait for boot up...ie mercedes symbol to go away.
3. hold the buttons "1" "3" "mute" down all at the same time.
4. wait a few seconds and it goes into a menu.
5. scroll to "Diagnosis"
6. Hit "reset"

I have found that resolves virtually every problem I have ever had with comand.....including the dreaded.."only half the speakers work"

good luck
