CD Changer Installation

Sorry for the lame question, but this is my first MB....Love it so far. Anyway, I have a 99 CLK320 Coupe and just bought the fiber optic CD Changer and the bracket for the CLK. I understand it goes in the trunk on the right side and the cables are located around the battery somewhere, is this correct? If the cables are on the bottom of the trunk, do you need to feed them up the side of the liner to the top where the changer mounts (I think). I looked at the autotoys.com installation and can't get all the pictures to load without buying stuff from them, anybody got a quick link or something to help out? Also, is there a problem with the stock changer playing burnt CDs? What about Text ID on the songs, will the head display it? Thanks for any info.

most MBs come ready to use with cd changer, in which case, there will be a cable along the right hand side of the trunk, near the battery.

I'm not to sure, but I believe the CLK didn't get an fibre optic system until 2000... is this right? Or was '99 the first year?

In response to the CD-R question, yes they play burned CDs, but it doesn't display any text. There realy is no place to display it... nor is there any fucntion to specify to display text/titles.

Best thing to do if you are unsure, give your local friendly dealership a call.

optics cable

Mine was right behind the area circled in white.. The optics cable was taped to the panel so I need to remove it half way to access it. Good luck!

That is where I found mine. It was actually very easy to do after I figured I would bite the bullet and remove the right side trunk liner, but it turned out to be nothing to get it back together. Now if only there was something I could do as easily to shave a second off my 1/4 mile time....
