Mercedes CLK 320
Hi.. is anyone still on this thread? My CLK 320 temp +/- button just broke today. Took it apart, found the broken piece but am wary of the super glue thing. I glued it together and proceeded to LOSE the dang part! That being said, does anyone have an extra button lying around to sell? I need the white plastic part that goes behind the +/- button I may be blonde, but Im not paying for a new control unit...geez. Benz should sell these for 50 cents!

Nonono.... These can be fixed with cutting papeclips to size and gluing them to the plastic behind the black facials.. it's not a spring, there's a flimsy plastic piece that brakes off that depresses the button on the circuit board that provides the springiness, cut the paperclip to size, glue in place to the white button core behing the black plastic fascia, and it's a $2 fix.... And lasts.

Mercedes CLK 320
fan button
ha..thanks Scott, but what kind of "glue" will attach and HOLD a paperclip to plastic button backing? I did recently buy some two-part epoxy. I guess the length of the paperclip has to be just right to make contact with the fan on/off pieces, eh?

Benz fan button broken
i just had mine fixed a week ago.. i could not increase the speed of the fan and all what is was a LIL plastic broke that hold the button(IF ANYTHING DOES NOT WORK AND FEELS LIKE THE SPRING IS MISSING, ITS A LIL PLASTIC HOOK THAT HOLD THE BUTTON)..i called the dealer and said $1080 dollars and junk yard was $345 and about same price from ebay and rebuilt one.
So my mechanic opened it slowly and found the broken piece AND SUPERGLUED IT AND BAM EVERYTHING IS WORKING..I GAVE HIM A TIP $70 AND WAS LIKE GO HOME

I have made a replacement part (after much much trying and cost) that works (YIPPPPEEE!!) but is still cheaper then replacing the whole assembly for $500 to $1200 on ebay. Email me at Sunlover975@gmail.com if you would like to try a part. Put you car model and fan button in the subject line. It worked for me and the modified design should last for the life of the car. Yup it is beefy and robust much better then the original design. I have a CLK 320 2001 btw.

Fan button broken replacement part
Tried the super glue and the other mods but the tab kept breaking after a few presses so made my own.

Pics of repaired button
You will see the break in the 2nd pic. Both tabs were broken. I cut 2 small pieces of thin sheet metal for reinforcement across the break. I used contact cement. Solid as a rock. Let dry for 24 to 48 hours is best.
