Chrome Opinion?
I understand most guys don't like chrome on there car. For example, the 2000-2002 CLK don't have any. The car are just mono-color. It looks great and all. But I think adding a streek of chrome here and there make the have more esthetic with attitude. It's just too plain without chrome. It doesn't shows the outline and contour of the car. I like to hear from other people what they think of it and why.
I went to visit a lot of car design firms and they all now adding a slit of chrome here and there to all of there cars. It's interesting that right now everyone likes plain but in the next 4 years the chrome are coming back but not too much like the olden days. What are you guys take on this?

A 2-Seater Roaster & A 4-Door AMG & 2008 S550
It is really up to your own personal preference. Some like a little "bling bling" look, and some would not go chrome at all. In fact, wasn't there another discussion on how to replace the chrome window trims of a 320 to the black ones like the 430s.

If the 'little slits of chrome' you are referring to as in the window frame, its not that all 2000-20002 CLKs don't have them.
Only CLK320s have the chrome trim around the windows. The CLK430 & CLK55 uses a black window trim. This goes for the door handle trim too, where the 320 has a chrome strip, and the 430 & 55 is body colored.
And if you are referring to Chrome in other places, like wheels, mirrors, exhuast, etc... yeah, that a 'BLING BLING' factor...
Although, Chrome rims are just for show. Not good for aggresive drivers as it has a tendency to crack and chip(sometimes) under heavy driving conditions.

Sorry mmgrad,
I was not talking about chrome rims, exhaust, chrome mirrors or any personal extra's. I am talking about the way the car come with it natural designed. If you guys take a closer look at the new E class front bumper, it has that "slit" or slim chrome pieces on both sides. Kind of give the car that sharp looks. Just like us CLK owners put on our tuxedo and the ladies says....."You look sharp." kind of deal.

ps.
I have finished designing the mesh grills for the opening space b/w the fog lights. All I am waitig for is the chrome version to be chrome plated (2 weeks). The second one I painted silver to match my car(looks awesome!). Once I get the chrome version I'll post some picture which looks better on my car. So excited! can't wait to mount it on!:p

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
Chrome is retro.
The CLK320 not only has it around the windows, but also on top of the door handles.
To me, it is tacky, -- incl. the touches of chrome on the new E, which really is PLASTIC!

Prior to 2000, both the CLK430 and 320 had the chrome around the windows and door handles. I prefer the monotone look too, especially on black cars. Less is definitely more when it comes to that look!
The chrome looks good on silver cars, I've seen on several on this board. I do think chrome wheels look pretty good, even on monotone cars. Better than the black wheels with polished outers. Anyone like that look?
