430 vs 55

Time for a new car. I've got it narrowed down to either a CLK or an S class. I've never driven a CLK so what exactly does it drive like? I'm using it mostly for commuting 8hrs every couple weeks so I don't want something like a sports car but it has to be comfortable for the long drive. I see there's not much difference in price between the 430 and the 55 so is it worth going with the 55? I'm assuming the 55 has a better engine due to it being hand built, but is it an expensive engine to maintain? Is there any major differences in them besides then engine/suspension?

Also,
Does anybody know why MB's seem to depreciate so much? I checked out an S class last week, an 02 430 w/ 60k for $22k! Weren't these 80k new? My parents bought an 00 M class with 30k a few months ago for $15k. You can't even buy a Cobalt for that.

buy holson's 55!!! i just upgraded from a 430 to a 55, and it's a blast. much cooler interior and better handling and acceleration. it's an outstanding machine. look at this link, it's a fantastic buy on a clean car:
