Line missing on dashboard display....

see pic

Anyone know what to do. It happened two weeks ago, and all I did was restart the car, and eventually it came back. I started the car today since then and it has gone again, and restarting made no difference yet.

I don't understand why the line came back by restarting the car, and what the problem is. What type of display is it? LCD, if so I thought that once it goes it never comes back?

Appreciate any help.

Nick

...........You will have to replace your instrument cluster. I just had this done 3 weeks ago. I don't completely understand why the entire cluster has to be replaced for such a simple problem, but it does. I hope your car is under warranty.

Question And its back on again

What the hell is it? It has completely gone back to normal today, as if you couldn't tell their was a problem. Do you reckon a loose connection. I haven't messed with the dashboard or cluster.

Any ideas?

Also Ted what was your problem, was it the same thing?

Many Thanks

Nick

...........exactly. That is what happened to me. It kept going and coming back for months until it finally went and the missing part of the display did not re-appear. It was a problem because I could not take it to the dealer, because by the time I got there the car had warmed up and the display will be fine.

Thank you Ted

Ted,

I am going to hope it doesn't disappear too often, not an important display, so will decide in future wether or not to change it.

Is it easy to replace, and how long did it take? Does it mess anything with the service reminder, or any problems afterwards? Also when did you get your car? Just wanted to find out if it is a comman problem?
