Why dont you replace the filter and all the tranny fluid first before you buy a new one. My trans was running a little rough before I changed the filter at 95 thousand miles and it ran a hell of alot smoother. If the trans still shifts rough then you could either replace it or send it out to get beefed up. I dont remeber who it was (BlackBenz maybe) that said a place called Code One would significantly beef up our trannies. This could be a worthwhile thing to do if you plan on doing any serious mods later on down the road.

You might be low on fluid thereby not getting enough pressure to change gears....I dont really know but its always better to check first. You can buy the dip stick tool at the stealership. I dont think they cost much...25 bucks maybe?????

My thought is that you have your car towed to an independent that specializes in Mercedes-Benz. Based on your description, it sounds expensive.

I know that you have already searched for transmisions but here are a couple more, oh yeah I also found out that the E320 transmission fits your car as well:

1100 bucks w/ 6 month warranty http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TRANS...3286.m20.l1116

2000 with one year warranty: http://www.phoenixhardparts.com/inde...ROD&ProdID=119

hey gregory appreciate that alot battle, well im taking the car to the stealership today i was going to start doing things on my own since im accustomed to always doing my own work but im afraid of just overspending due to troubleshooting without adequate tools when it could be something smaller, i know this is going to hurt lol especially since they charge 95 bucks just to look at the thing

I would have done the same thing...just have them diagnose the problem and then you take care of it. I do this all the time. You will still save alot in the end since you will do the majority of the work. Hopefully it is something small and not the whole transmission.

I would statr calling independent shops and see how much they quote for a tranny change. Or.....call that one place that will redo your original trans and make it much stronger so that you know that you can increase power or at a minimum have a MUCH stronger tranny. ????

Keep us posted on what you do...a couple of us could end up in the same situation. Oh and if you do tackle this yourself PLEASE take some pics and instrauctions for the rest of us!!
