Question about Spring Pads

Hey guys & gals, what drop can I expect if I changed my spring pads to #1 at the front & #2 at the back while keeping the shock and spring stock for now? CLK 430...also, would you guys happen to know the part numbers for those? Let me know..

p.s. still saving money for H&R's and Bilstein Sports. Can you guys recommend a suspension shop that will switch my pads that won't cost me an arm and a leg? (fremont/newark area...I heard some ppl took their cars to "Wheel Works")

Thank you!

The answer depends on what (number/bump) spring pads you currently have on your car.

There is a complete listing of spring pad part numbers and the thickness of each for the W208 CLKs....just do a search and you'll find the thread(s).

There is only a 5mm difference from spring pad to spring pad.

This is where I got mine, and they're cheaper than the dealer. Ship super fast.

Thanks for all the help! I think i'm just going to do that..wait for all the parts and then hit everthing all at once. Seems most logical since each pad has a 5mm difference..Right now i can fit 3 fingers in the front and then 2 fingers in the back.LMAO! That didn't sound right. Anyway, thanks again guys

That's how my car sets too, which makes me nervous about getting all the right equipment to do right once. Especially since I have #1 pads in the front and ????? in the rear.

i just removed the #5(21mm) pad and it lowered the car to a 1 finger gap. (bilstein sports)

i plan on removing the rear pads and using the next thinner pad to level the stance. (bilstein sports)

Here's a pic with the front spring pad removed with stock springs, 205/55/16s, and new bilstein sport shocks...

I need to work on the rear. Can anyone guess which pads I have in the rear. The shocks in the rear are still original and I had #5s in front.

Wait, are you saying that the corresponding #s are different for front and back? And are those measurements E class pads or CLK pads?

The front #1 pad is a E class part #.

FWIW, I had #5 front and #3 rear on my 99 clk320.
