Does anyone have before and after pics of retrofitted COMMAND in a W208?
Thanks!

Does a 209 retrofit definitely NOT work, or just no one has tried it yet due to the small number of samples out there?

I do have pictures of 2 CLKs in which I installed comand...I only have the after pictures of a 2002 CLK320 conv in which I installed comand last september (UK car).

Retrofitting comand in the 209 should be fairly easy as well.

How do you install the COMAND for a W210? I'm assuming that you will need to know what options the car has so that you will have the correct center wood panel with the correct number of holes for all the buttons that the car has or does not have.

As an example, here is a pic of the interior of a W210. It is all wood down the middle.

Please let me know. I am very interested in getting the Euro COMAND when you come to the states again.

For the W210, you need to purchase a new dash console to house the double-DIN COMAND unit. Its not that expensive, and yes, you'll need to tell them how many buttons there are on the panel, unless you want to cut them out yourself.

Steve can probably get these for you also.

Probably because most people prefer to keep the steering wheel controls and don't want a pop up screen...

greetingz,
There's adaptors available which will function your steering wheel controls again. I know this thing is different for everyone.

Bruce, can you give me a pointer to such an adapter? It might just be what I've been looking for. Thanks,

The one that i know of is manufactured by Alpine. But you're probably only gonna find it in Europe somewhere. Not in the states.

there is also an adapter avail for pioneer units... not sure on the link though.

all you looking at command bear in mind it is not a very good system at all.. i have had both.. the nav is slow compared with dvd nav on the aftermarket stuff. the sound quality is poor and the screen size is a joke....

now the newer command on the latest s is much better but still not upto aftermarket standards..
