COMAND tracking
On the phone, the guy has no clue what car it came from, but he just says that it works. Claims he is selling for a friend. He wants $450-$500 for the unit.
My question is, how do I know if this is stolen or not? I don't want to be in possession of stolen goods.
I know no one will find out, but my concern is, since a navigation system sends & receives signals from a satellite, it can be tracked. I just don't want to get in trouble, say for instance, soemone reports it stolen and MB tracks it down to the very place it is in (hypothetically my car).
Any help/suggestions?
So... as long as the unit works, and the guy isn't a cop (seriously doubt), then it should be cool, right?
Sounds like a real good deal...
Make sure it still doesn't have the wires dangling off of it.
i just hope its not too good to be true
Question is, can I track my own car. Like through a web site somewhere?
I know there is technology out there that does that, but they require additional hardware.
Whats your thought?

Be careful. To use the Comand console you need other wiring in the car. I don't think the car comes pre-wired for the Comand console. Ask a dealer if they would install a unit for you, and you will get a no answer. It is a factory option.
Many others on the board have done it. You can buy the extra wires and harnesses at any local dealer.
