you're going to need to install resistors or wire the LED with the existing bulb to get rid of the message.
i have stock hid's also, but still got the error without installing resistors.

Bizump,
So sorry for bringing this one back from the dead guys but I thought I should share.
So I got two LED Festoon 39mm bulbs (6 led) and installed them in my dome lights two weeks ago and have had no warnings what so ever and it's my daily driver. I just ordered more for my rear dome light and tail lights. My brother also got a bunch for he and his wife's benz's(non w208's).
I'll let you know if anything goes wrong but so far so good and I gotta say these things are awesome, so bright and crisp...

Quick update.
I added another led bulb to my rear ldome light and still had no warnings what so ever.
Today I got off work and replaced my two license plate bulbs with the led ones and it tripped a light out warning on my cluster....
So basically I have no warnings with the dome lights but get warnings from the license plate ones.
If anyone can give me a link to the resistors everyone talks about please drop me a line on this thread. Do they even work? Thanks guys...

I have a 2001 CLK430. I have added the LED's for the license plate. Is there anyone who can tell me where to gwt the Grill w/star, Flat Badge Hood emblem and Illuminated door sills? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

sorry to bring this thread back. I'm sure some of you are sick of seeing it. I ordered the bulbs and installed it. But I'm getting the "light out" error message. Do I really need to put resistors on? Or could I just let it be?

oh and to top it off...as I was taking out the bulbs...I lost one into the trunk lid and I can't figure out how to get it out. I just hear a rattling noise when I open and close the trunk....=(

Alright guys, i FINALLY found some really great looking SUPERWHITE LED License Plate Light Bulbs for everyone.
They're BRAND NEW, they barely became available less than a month ago. I just never bought them til last week.
NO RESISTORS NEEDED!
NO "BULB OUT" error messages on the dash!
NO FLICKERING!
TRULY a simple replacement bulb, except in a LED version!
Oh, these aren't as cheap. They're about $19.50 for a pair, that includes shipping.
