Speaker Replacement Suggestions

Even though I will be selling the car in at the end of the summer, I still want to change the speakers.

Anyone have any suggestions. I was going with some Hertz comps, but after researching the shallowness of our stock Bose speakers, I figured it was time for a thread.

What would you guys suggest?

our stock speakers are NOT shallow. In my last CLK430 I fit a JL Audio XR 6.5" driver in the stock location.

In my current CLK55, I have a 6.5" SoundStream Reference 6.5" driver in the stock location.

sup opal. . was thinking of finally changin out my stock internals as well. . right now there running on the stock bose amp paired with an independant JL 1000/1 pushing a Jl W7 13.5. . .its clean yes but drowned none the less. . would like to pair another JL amp for the internals turn the stock sub locations into an extra set of rears or all six up front as front and stock sub location as the rears. . but anyway was jus asking any opinions as to what speaker setups soud best in our cars loking for volume and clarity. . thanks in advance. . oh keep in mind i do plan on running the internals off a JL amp. . not purchased yet. . input needed and appreciated. . .

So just about anything will work? Does anyone know where to find the mounting depths for the Bose door speakers.

if you decide to add another amplifier to run your internal speakers, I highly suggest the purchase of a JL Audio Clean Sweep.

I used to be into all the Focal, Morel, and all the high-end speakers for sound quality, but now all I listen to is pretty much Hip Hop and Rap, so pretty much any brand's top-end components sound good, ie: Sound Stream Reference, JL audio XR, MB Quart Q-Series, Kenwood Excelon, etc etc.

the bose speakers/amp run at 2ohms...(thats why i think they sound good)

You might consider a new amp with your aftermarket speakers, and re-wire.

my 10 year old Bose speakers remain in good shape, no rips, no tears.

Run an aftermarket Head Unit, and those Bose speakers will sing!

That's what I intend to do....do all new wires.

Two more questions though: are the speakers towards the rear of the door 4" or 3" and what size are the tweeters?

Glad yu said MB quarts cause thats what i was leaning against. . still tryna figure which JL amp to use to run the components..? also would you recomend turning our stock sub locations (since my sub is now in the trunk) into the rears. . and if so how should i configure the doors now. . 6 front? or 4 front and 4 rears? thanks again for the inputs. .
