Motor Mount question
you might want to check the tranny mount while your mechanic is in there as well.
Keep in mind, the left is the hardest one to do, so if they do that one in 1 hour, they should be able to do both in 1 1/4 hours. The left is a b itch(B ITCH) to get out of the cramped space down there, but the right side comes right out.
Also, if one mount is tore up, the other one is taking too much of a beating.
The 3rd(back, tranny) mount is probably ok, and it is very, very easy to do yourself with a floor jack and jack stands, and one size wrench.
I bought german made mounts for this car online(autoparts warehouse) for about 85 bucks a piece and it took me 2 hours to do it in my garage.
So expect to pay a mechanic shop about 110-125 for the mounts(each) and 1.5 hours at most. That would be reasonable for (maybe a)pro. If he's done it before, he could probably do it in less than half an hour.
375 ish.

I was thinking that if you knew what was up you could talk straight to them and they might be straight with you. Ask them to cut the labor in half.
I agree that some of the other suggestions could be the culprit. I also thought "well, maybe it's the spark plugs, or the oxgen sensor, or the MAF, or even a vacuum leak". So, I changed the spark plugs, and checked for vacuum leaks. Still shook.
One day when I punched it to pass someone, I noticed kind of a clunk, and kinda felt like I'd felt it before but it didn't register at the time. So for the next couple of days I would intetionally test it out. And I could distinctly feel the motor lifting off the motor mount and dropping down with a clunk.
I knew then that it was the motor mount(s).
When I changed them, one was completely seperate(the top of the mount nestled into the bottom, with Zero resistance between the motor and the chassis). The other was leaking(these mounts are fluid filled)and stretched out and obviously not quite the same shape as the replacement I had nearby.
When I was done the car was as smooth as could be, like new probably. I felt much better after and wasn't embarassed to have passengers in my sweet looking Benz.
I think you should get 'em changed. Imagine your motor jumping around in the engine compartment. That can't be good. And imagine not having to explain to your passengers why YOUR friggin' Benz shakes.
