2003 CLK Cabriolet (W208)
Scanner for Mercedes specific codes -

Hi,

I am relatively new to forum. Driving an '03 CLK 430 Cab (yep W208). Having intermittent issues with Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) trouble light as well as 'Airbag Off' light in center console. Do you know of an inexpensive (relative term I know) code reader that would provide the manuf specific codes? It seems on review most available OBDII scanners are designed to return general fault codes rather than vehicle specific codes. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

ODBII scanner wont help you with this problem, you should have a shop connect their SDS to your car and read out the codes. By the description, it sounds like the baby smart passenger seat sensor needs replacing, this is a common problem, do a search for it on the forum.

On my CLK site, I have pictures showing how to remove this sensor, not too difficult of a job.

2Phast. Thanks for the advice and explaination/pictures on your site. How difficult is it to put the seat back together once new sensor in place?

Thanks

The process was very simple, but then again, I already had the seat out of the car, so I suspect access to the bolts would be the largest problems (assuming you keep the seat in your car)
