from my personal experience...

the V6 on the CLK320 is fantastic, its fun and very reliable. But does seem to lack that extra power everyone seems to crave for these days. Personally, I have one and i'm thrilled about it. I have done 80,000 miles and no problems yet!

The V8 on the CLK430 is a beast, fuel consumption is ridiculous, but the performance justifies it. If you travel long distances, then the V8 would prob. be a good idea. I think they are less durable engines and tend to show some problems later on. They need to be driven fast most of the time!

just my thoughts and opinions.

Thanks

430 gives you a V8 engine while the 320 gives you a V6 engines

430 has a AMG kits on it as a standard kits, 320 does not
I personally like the 320 front kits better, but 430's Side and rear better.

430 has Xenon lights as a standard while 320, it's an opinion
430 also has 17" amg wheels, while 320 gives you 16" wheels

the rest is pretty much the same
recommend to buy 2000 and after models, cause personally i like the side blinkers on the side mirror better
PLus, 2000 and after models has ESP and central console that can be adjusted by controls on the steering wheels
kind of cool compare to my older MB cars
hope this helps
best way is to go to the dealership and see it for yourself, too

I have a 99 430 and love it, lack of side mirror blinkers and all!! My gas consumption is 19.559 MPG, and I drive my car hard! I personally like the AMG look of the 430, as all 430s come with 17" rims and AMG side, rear, and front skirts.

oh sorry

If you buy the CLk430 at the Vancouver, they came with standard with xenon. I guess it would the same throughout Canada.

I guess US version does not have xenons as standard then

Get the 55 AMG.

Best car since Karl Benz patented the first motorcar in 1886!!

Not one drop of additional oil required between the free 10,000 mile oil changes...I got 21,000 fun-filled miles on my exemplary AMG.

...@ 20 mpg...

I wouldn't want to buy a 430 that you can buy in the 20's...meaning the cars worth buying are more than that. jl88 is selling his 2000 430 w\ 32K for $36,000, check the classifieds.

I just bought a 99 CLK430 last month for $28K with 63K miles, I thought it was a good deal. I did see a 99 CLK430 for $32 with 20K miles in autotrader the other day, I thought that was a really good deal. If I recall correctly, it was at a dealership in Orange County California. I love mine so far, if power isn't important to you I would look at the CLK320. I thought the extra 4 or 5 thousand was worth it to upgrade to the 430. If I did get the 320, I would probably regret getting it, cause I would alway see 430's and probably say to myself that I should have gotten what I wanted. Just take your time and shop wisely, but don't let the good deal pass you by. BTW if you want a good rate for a car loan, try PeopleFirst.com, they gave me a great rate, by far the best interest rates out there. Happy shopping.
