Odometer reset, need advise

So like an idiot, I left my lights on overnight and it totally drained my battery. It was completely locked up but I was able to get in the trunk and jump it. It is fine now but I noticed my odometer has been completely erased! I now have like 30 miles on my car and need to know if there is something I can do to get back my original mileage.

If anyone knows how to do it I would really appreciate the advice as I would really like to aviod the stealership on this one.

Thanks

Oh and to help others out with the infamous window problem (one touch up rolls window up all the way and than comes back down about an inch) this solved my problem, So I'd imagine it may fix the problem if you disconnect your battery, just dont leave your lights on all night like my dumbass.

Ummm... Your odometer will never reset. It is permanently in the ECU memory. If you could reset, people would be getting ripped off left and right at the stealership. Try switching from the trip odometer. (I don't have a w208, so I can't tell you how.)

No dude, its my main odometer reading and not the trip reading. Believe me, I have messed around with it for a few days and can't seem to get my mileage back.

My A and B service also read "99999 until service is due" so it messed that up as well.

Wow.

This is unheard of. Does the odometer work? Or is it stuck at 0 miles when driving?

The odometer works. This happened about two weeks ago and since I have put about 400 miles on it, mostly because I took it on a short trip two days after. My odometer is literally reading around 400 miles give or take a few.

I contacted my mechanic who has done nothing but good things for me and my car and he didn't act like he really had an answer. He said he was gonna look into it and call me back. That was today and he didn't call back. Will contact tomorrow.

I am able to reset the trip odometer but that's about it. Cant get back A and B service readings or the overall mileage of my car which is about 90K...

Need help guys, this bothers me a bit...

Bump for the work crown, I talked with my personal mechanic and he said it may be something I have to go to the stealership for.

I'm very surprised that the odometer reset completely!

The dealer can more the odometer forward (even number only eg. 30432mi, can't be 30431mi or 30433mi) If you know roughly what it was then they can reset it to that milage for you and reset the service indicator so that it shows the correct service interval (supply them the milage of the last service and how many days it's been since then).

Yeah it is wierd, I've done a lot of research and can't find anyone else who has had this problem. I'll be able to pinpoint my mileage give or take about 100 miles or so. I'm also gonna go ahead and pull off and put back the positive battery terminal to see what happens. I think it's worth a try at this point...

See if they can reset it back to your last scheduled service. Then sell the car on eBay, because you know everyone here already knows about it.

I'm asking 60k and dont have AMG rims but maybe we can work something out...

Anyways, I cant believe nobody else has had this problem...wtf's wrong with my car.

I am no where close to selling it. Within three months from now I will have new tail lights, A pioneer avic z3 nav/dvd installed, new projectors and next May, I'll be dropping it (Winters are horrible in Kansas). I am also going to redo my headliner and go with black vinyl in place of the grey headliner.

If you plan on keeping it, then forget about the milage, carefully drive the crap out of it over the next 12 or 13 years, and you'll have an instant classic with low miles! You just have to make sure your miles have past the Odometer reading on your title.
