1999 clk 430
Newbie looking for advice...
I am looking at a 1999 clk430 coupe. It has 55k on it and has been owned by a friends family and they took care of it. Do you guys know of any issues I should look for, or any problem I might want to budget for after I buy the car? Also looking to put some rims on. I am in Staten Island NYC. If anyone knows of a deal, let me know. (I hope u Benz guys are as good as the Audi guys I am used to dealing with....) Bring on the knowledge!

Overall, just be wise about the decisions you make if / when you buy the car. Some of the things i did when i bought mine were....
- pop the hood: check belts, leaks, cracks, rips, spills, etc.
- take it for a drive: check how it rides, any noises, the way it idles, etc
- exterior: dents, scratches, rock chips, etc
- interior: make sure entire console works, seat motors, etc
- check suspension and brakes
- drive the car normal for a bit, then drive it hard. see if there's anything wrong
Oh, by the way... the rims show on my signature pic are for sale. staggered AMG 17's

1999 CLK 320 Coupe
i took my 99 CLK 320 to the closest dealer and coughed up the $185 to have them perform a complete diagnostic on it. quite a few issues came up including a leaking rear differential and about-to-die steering shocks. since you're buying from a friend maybe that's not as necessary, but if they didn't dealer service it i'd recommend it. in the end i paid $1800 to get the car in perfect running shape at an indie benz shop. 4000 miles later i'm 100% satisfied and love the car!
