Are CLK sales weak?
Had some warranty work done this week and when I picked up my car I noticed that the dealer had a CLK430 Cab Designo in the show room... CLK 320 and CLK 430 Cabs right outside the show room....and they said the had a CLK55 Cab out back.
What happend to the 1 year+ wait to get a CLK Cab?
P.S. The squeak that seemed to be in my dash....turned out to be the hood strut (they greased it).

Demand for CLKs has lasted longer than any M-B model I can remember. The time has come, though. The economy is weak so people are worried about spending the money. Plus, a new CLK will be here in a few months so people are worried about resale.

2002 CLK 430 Coupe
When I got mine two weeks before Christmas, it was sitting on the lot. I saw it a month before I decided to buy it and went back - lucky for me it was still there
Maybe there is some sort of routing schedule as most of the posts indicate CLKs being available in the northeast at this time.

I am shopping for a 2002 CLK in southern California and every dealer that I have been walking to have at least 3 or 4 CLKs on their lot and they are selling them at sticker or some below sticker price. And they are getting 1 or 2 cars in every week.
My sister got her 2002 CLK 320 car in September of last year and she paid $1,000 over dealer cost and that is about $1,500 below sticker price. They had lot of cancelations after the september 11.
And the lease price have droped a lot since last year. They are leasing them at around $700 per month on a CLK 320 with K3 and K4 package with a CD changer with just a total drive off of $1,100, 3 years 15,000 miles.
Does that sound like a good deal??

My local dealer had the usual weekly add in this morning's paper. At the bottom it said (in big bold type) that for the 1st time in 3 years, they actualluy have CLKs in stock!! Only coupes, no cabs sitting around.

cut and paste from my other post
There seems to be too many CLK55s floating around on Ebay and in the paper. My dad did some checking around and it looks like wholesale at some of the used car lots at the MB dealers seem to be closer to 52-55K (ouch!)
430s are the fast mover - cabs are hot!
people just don't know (or care) what a 55 is all about.
the extreme boy racers (that would be me) got for the coupes - the cab 55s are going to be ridiculously rare
as long as AMG keeps the 55 big block out of the W209 (new clk) I think we will do fine in the long run just based on production
ANYONE KNOW FOR SURE 55 PRODUCTION???
in the short term 430s / 430 cabs are gold

2001 SLK320 AT Glacier White
Here at MB of Orlando...
They had 2 mineral green/oyster CLK320 coupes (not a big fan of that color), a beautiful black opal/ash 320 coupe, 1 silver 320 cab, 2 CLK55 coupes (black, silver), 2 CLK55 Cabs (silver, black) 3 CLK430 coupes (2 silver, black) and a couple CLK430 cabs. Also half a dozen used CLKS 98-02. I've hardly ever seen a CLK of any kind at this dealership. If I weren't married, I would be picking up the black opal 320 today.
We went to look at the E-class and test drive it, for the wifey. Been wanting a CLK for several months now but it will take a divorce to get it (Hmmmm) as I just got the SLK320 a year ago and the wife wants a new E-class. BTW, $10K plus my SLK320, a bit steep I thought for a CLK320 w/K3.

2001 CLK320
Another factor might be
With the current body style being around for 5 model years, the final year tends to slow down in sales when a re-styled body is due for sale the next year.
Another factor is that coupes are a specialty segment of the marketplace. Most folks go for sedans or SUV's about 3:1 over coupes...notice how many E-class sedans and ML's you see on the road most of the time if its a 'Benz going by?
With the economy slowing down (some say stalling), a lot of people aren't making luxury car purchases quite as freely. With the price of admission for the CLK, you aren't going to see that many of them around (except for L.A. or Newport Beach!).
Even now, here in the SF Bay Area, CLK's of any kind are a rare sight on an MB dealer's lot. I got lucky enough to find and test drive a '99 CLK430 coupe so I could make my decision on which model to order - it was even in the exact color combo I had in mind...
