Power Steering Leak

My PS fluid stated leaking really bad when the wheels are turned all the way left or right. It's towards the back of the engine around the steering box, it got on the exhaust and smoked for a little bit. Any suggestions before I take it to the stealership tomorrow any pay up the @$$.

Thanks

isn't there only one hose from the reservoir?

Good news, just the steering damper. $80 + $44 labor. Also had them do the leaking tranny connector seal ~$140, they said it was leaking on to the exhaust.

Does the damper use the PS fluid or is it self contained?

The damper does not use PS fluid.

I wouldn't have guessed it would cost $124 for a steering damper replacement.

Yeah, I found them on line (http://www.performanceproducts4benz....9&dept_id=6397) for $33 but I wouldn't get around to it for 2 more weeks so I just gave in.

I have the same problem on my E420. I rebuilt the power steering pump, thinking that was the problem, but the leak persisted. When I turn full right or left, the leak is great. I don't understand how the damper causes PS fluid leak? Did you have to keep refilling the reservoir as I do? What finally fixed the problem?

Where is your leak? Mine was directly from the damper, it was not PS fluid but looked similar. I assume that if I kept driving/turning it would have all leaked out of the damper.
