missing car
My friend placed a deposit on a 2003 CLK 320 on 10/25/02 at Silver Star Mercedes Benz with salesman, Owen Taback, Long Island City, NY.
He called the dealership on or about Jan 15th ,2003, to find out the status of car.
He was told by Owen "it vanished from the radar"
The sales manager reiterated this claim.
The salesman then offered to sell my friend a used SL500 for $61.900
He declined the offer.
Can someone give me an explanation for the vanished vehicle?

If your friend hadn't receive the VIN number of the car in question, I believe the dealership can still sell the car to someone else. Of course, the most likely reason is money.
Either a long term client came in wanting a car and not the wait, or someone willing to pay more than your friend and basically cut in front of the line. What salesperson would turn down more money?
But that is just my guess.

Same thing happened to me. I make a huge stink with the General Manager and had a car in less than a week.
It's all about the money...

Did you have to pay more?
