I assume the only special tool you would need is a spring compressor. I don't think it looks very complicated however I have not had any hands on experience. I would love to moderately lower my car with some new springs.

If you want a lower your a bit just go to benz and ask for the thinest spring cup. they offer different thicknesses. My friend did his that way and looked pretty nice and saved tonnes of money.

theres no write up man. I thought I made one a while back, but cant seem to find it. I had some pics. But it's not much different than any other suspension setup. Take off the wheels, loosen the shocks, use a spring compressor to get the spring loose and then compress the new one and reinstall.
The rear is tougher. The spring compressors arent so friendly. I put the car on a lift, put a jack up under the suspension arm, and undid the arm from the inside of the car and then gradually let pressure off the jack until the spring was uncompressed and the arm was hanging down loose. then i put the new spring in and carefully jacked it back up and reinstalled the big bolt to hold the arm back in proper place. This works fine, but keep in mind it's dangerous and you better be using a damn good jack.

Damn. you make it sound straight forward enough.. do you think its possible to do it on jack stands? and by good jack do you mean one that releases really slowly and can hold a lot of weight. what signifies a good jack? Im trying to tackle this in a few weeks when i get i find a decent deal on springs.. (already bought shocks).. im pretty hands on so i hope this is a relatively easy job...

i did mine on jack stands in 2.5 hrs. its not a hard job, if you've ever done a suspension job before, the w208 is one of the simplest. i have a decent DIY writeup that i found for a w210, which is about the same, PM me your email addy and ill forward you the pdf.

yeah it's not crazy, just make sure u know what you're doing if you want to be done quickly. I'd like to see the pdf as well!
jack stands just seem less safe to me. i would never recommend anything that I could potentially regret.

i just got my front springs installed... took bout hr to do.. all i did was remove the bolt holding the shock to the a-arm.. then i removed the 2 to bolts holding the a-arm on the car. used a jack and lowered the control arm down and the spring came almost all the way out.. just used a screw driver and prided the spring the rest of the way out.. put new spring in and used the jack to jack back up the a-arm and and re- attach the 2 bolts and the shock bolt.. was very easy...

slickclk430,
have you done the rear? is it easy to align the holes for the 2 control arm bolts? if so, i'll just remove the bolts instead of compressing.
i used a spring compressor for the front, but removed the inner control arm bolt for the rear for the few times i removed the springs. it's never easy for me to replace the bolt.

jack stands, i gave advice to slick on how to do this.
sfclk, its not too hard to align the holes, just gotta finesse with with the jack underneath the control arm, and a rubber mallet to slowly push in the bolts to get it going.
i personally hate spring compressors, get too nervous around them, so i do this method. but note, that if you do mess with the control arm, you definitely need an alignment.
