battery died, cold weather?

I was away for about a month and left my car in a unheated garage. I tried to start it tonight and couldn't even open my doors remotely. Does cold weather kill a battery? It's been below freezing here for about two weeks now. Do you think the battery is damaged or just need to be started?

I did the same over XMas and New years for 2 weeks as well. My CLK is a May 01 model with 15k miles. It had no problems starting up 2 weeks later in an unheated garage while the outside temp was about 20F in Ohio.

How old is your battery?

Call the 800 Mercedes road side assistance number for a jump start. If the car is still in the original 4 year warranty period, they should replace the battery for no charge if it is bad. Just don't mention that it had been setting for a month.

Cold weather is hard on batteries.
You can do a coulpe of things to help prevent hard starts.
Use a trickle charger when you know your going to be gone for a few days.
Take the battery out and place it somewhere warm (Inside, but not near fire) Place it something to protect the surface your setting the battery on. After it's warmer then re-install it. (Caution you may lose some data, preset Radio stations, Home link, ect...) And then try and start the car.

Best thing is to use a trickle charger.
Or as the others suggested Call MB for road side assistance.

Hot weather is also hard on batteries, they don't last more than 2 years.
