The car runs hot at idle or in traffiic but cruising runs fine. Never over heats as off yet but I was wondering what direction to go to figure this out. Runs at about the 3 quater mark on the temp gauge and I know thats not right. Weather has been cool here in NY just worrying about when it gets hot here. So if anyone has any info please let me know thanks....

Any blown fuse? It could also be some fans not working right.

try the coolant? My car was running a little hot and it turned out to be there was too much water and not enough coolant in my reservoir. you could just need to replace coolant.. its supposed to be a 50/50 mix of coolant and water i believe.

sounds fine to me.

for my car...driving around the city, the needle gets close to the 3/4 mark. around the highway it stays just over the 1/2 mark.

mine does the same. I was concerned for a while, so I changed the coolant. Nothing changed. Does your fender mounted pump (near the alternator) start clicking when it gets to the 3/4 mark?

...the auxiliary pump, I think it's called. The hose along the chassis pulsates like a heart at all times.

Since cooling hasn't been an problem, I never thought anything of the pulsating hose.
