Looking 4 Horsepower Gains-2002 CLK430
"Average % HP gains are as follows: (note: numbers may vary based on the make and model of your vehicle) "
Poch,
From what you are saying, I would recommend the High Performance muffler. It's what I put on my dad's SL500. It's decently loud when you want it loud, and quiet when you want it quiet. Sport is always quiet and Race is always loud.
Sleestack lost 5hp with his Eisenmann Sport exhaust. This is why we urged them to make a muffler for the CLK55. The 430 exhaust was to restritive for AMG cars and tuned cars. If he lost 5hp, do you really think you will gain 5?
Again, I stress: Unless you have seen an independent dyno showing rear wheel hp gains (substantial), don't do the upgrade for power. Muffler upgrades should be based on looks and sound. There are a few cars that still benefit a lot (in power), but for the most case, performance is not changed.
Lol, you guys are probably going to kill me for this, but the db levels aren't accurate either. Those readings were taken off an e36 M3. Don't forget the disclaimer:

That will be the last thing I'll do anyway, first I'm going to do............the pulleys, then the chip, then the muffler.
I should be placing my order by the end of next week or so.
If i am not wrong, chip doesn't work to improve our hp, does it?
Ben: So, will you lose hp if you change the stock to the race eisenmann exhaust on a 430?
Thank you
Hinhin7,
I don't think any normal CLK's will lose power with an Eisenmann muffler. Most likely, the change will be unnoticable. All I am saying is do it primarily for looks and sound. If you go into it expecting to get power, you will probably be dissappointed.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Our underdrive pulleys are the best bang for the buck. For $499 (plus installation) you will have another 13hp at the wheels (dyno proven). Unlike other mods, that don't put out much power until higher gears/rpms, the pulleys will give 13hp immediately; thus helping city driving.
In terms of the eisenmann exhaust, my butt dyno did not feel a difference! Im thinking about switching ECU tuning from speedtuning to powerchip, anyone have experience with powerchip?
Mercedes-Benz built the cars with extremely heavy exhaust systems. I don't know what alloy they used, but it's definitely not aluminum they used for the exhaust based on the weight.
I'm personally considering creating custom downpipes to connect to the exhaust manifold and have everything pop out from just behind the front wheels (much like a first generation Dodge Viper). I imagine it'd significantly reduce weight, which would amplify the (rather small) power gains.
The extra costs and the extra wear and tear, its just not worth the effort to do power adders to a street car, matter of fact its why I pick low powered cars to drive, I just can't afford the higher insurance from the tickets.
