any advice on buying 1999 CLK 320 cabriolet?
I am looking at these models as a replacement for my wife's 1999 Acura TL. She wants a luxury convertible, and this seems about in our price range. I also am consider a Jaguar XK8 of the same year.
I am a bit surprised at what I'm seeing for asking prices on the CLK 320 cabriolet, which are typically in the low 40's, given that the MB website indicates these cars cost $47k new, 4 years ago. That's an impressively low depreciation, or these sellers end up letting them go cheaper.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers.

Mercedes in general depreciate less than most cars. The CLK 320 is a great starter Benz , in my opinion. I'm sure you'd win a few brownie points with the Mrs as well. CLK's handle well ride great are fun and very attractive. heck you'd probably drive it more than her

The W208 CLK's are just plain sexy, can't say the same for the W209.
I heard Mercedes-Benz coupes with the star emblem sticking up are worth alot of money in the long run.

My house guest just picked up an XK8 convertible.... I drove it and I'm not impressed. The engine isn't very smooth, it handles like a boat and the brakes are woefully inadequate. I'd try to price a 430 instead of the 320. I just don't think there is enough engine in that 320 cabriolet.
