What is the real factory HP of the CLK430.
Some places say 275 and others 279 HP.
I went to www.mbnz.org/modelguide/ and entered my vehicle vin # and got 279 HP

279 is the DIN rating. 275 is the SAE rating.

It's like having a candy bar that is labeled "2 ounces/ 56 grams". What is the real weight of the candy bar? Somewhere in between? No, it's one or the other depending on which scale is used.

LOL, you'll have 4hp more than a guy in the US with the same mods using the same fuel.

So any HP rating from Europe is higher than in the US but in reality is the same??
I understand pounds and kilos, and ounces and grams, but horsepower is horsepower!
So, stock my car had 275 or 279 HP?.....I like 279 HP better!
:p

US HP is measured different than other countries' HP. Here's a link that explains most of it:

So guys, we simply need to accept that your US horses have slightly more grunt that our EU horses hence we need 4 more to get the same output
It's the same with our 'gallons', we have a larger gallon than you do so get better mpg (or should do).
On the downside, we pay a lot more tax on fuel so think yourselves lucky
