De-badging the CLK

Are the rear "CLK 430" badge glued on? Can I easily de-badge that? How can I do that without causing paint damage?

What about the rear star? Is it glue on or is there a little hole on the hood to hold it in place?

Thank in advance for your valuable advice.

I had my car lovingly debadged for me by some no-nuts pissant thief. He stole the K, 4, and 0 from my CLK430 badge, scratching the paint in the process. I took the other letters off (just yank 'em off, they're only glued on), and had my detail shop clean off the glue and buff out the scratches- looks good.

I'm pretty sure the star is glued on (no hole) as well. My friend's was stolen, but it broke in the middle and the thief only got part of it....

The best way I've heard to get the badges off is to heat them with a heat gun or blowdryer, then just pry 'em off. I don't know what to recommend to get the sticky junk off, but some paint-safe cleaner/solvent should work.

BTW- I don't live in the ghetto, people are just a$$holes.

It's like a sticker, very easy to remove, I went to a collision center and the guy removed my CLK320 badge in 1 minute.

To remove the letters/numbers a heat gun will work, but I just took some fishing line (dentel floss will work) and just ran it behind the letters. Use bug and tar remover to get rid of the stickum. You will need to rewax, but what the hay.

The star is held on in the middle w three pegs. Open the trunk, remove the carpet from the trunklid by pulling the little black pegs out, then press the pins (of the star) from the back side outward. Once you have it out a little you can pull it the rest of the way out from outside.

You will want to get a good bodyshop to fill the holes.

Here's a pic of the trim clips: just pull the little center piece out, then the outer piece, and voila, the carpet piece pulls right out.
