Cure For Body Roll On Clk

.........I just picked up my car after adding Renntech front and rear sway bars to the Kleemann speed sensitive suspension. I wish there was a way to let everyone drive it. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO BODY ROLL. It actually feels quite odd driving the car now because mentally I have come to expect some body roll as a natural aspect of driving. With ZERO body roll, it feels very unusual when conering. This is really amazing. I don't think it is for everyone because I can see how someone that does not do spirited driving might feel like they are still going straight while they are conering. Very odd to explain. But if you want absolutely no body roll whatsoever, get a Kleemann speed sensitive suspension and combine it with Renntech front and rear sway bars.

What is the diameter of the Renntech bars vs the stock CLK55/Eibach bars?

I agree, with the CLK55/eibach sway bars, I have absolutely no body roll. Now we just need to stiffen up the chasis.

Lol, nah not yet.

I can bring in CLK55 sway bars from Germany, but since this is not something commonly ordered, we will not stock it. The bars will be approximately $500-$550 with bushings. If anyone is interested, please let me know, as we have a container of parts about to depart.

Thanks,
Ben

..............I don't know the official numbers. But they are definitely thicker than the CLK55 bars. Mbautowerks did the install and they own a CLK55K with stock bars. They were amazed at the thickness of the Renntech bars.

............There were no inscriptions on the bars, so I couldn't tell. If Sleestack's MKB bars have inscriptions on them, then these are different.

.............I am not trying to knock the CLK55 bars. Actually, I got the Renntech bars because I could not find the Eibach/CLK55 bars. Having said that, the Renntech bars are thicker and offer significantly less body roll. The shop that installed my bars have a CLK55Kwith the CLK55 bars as well as Kleemann suspension. After installing mine and test driving it, the difference was obvious.

.............I just went under my car and measured the front sway bars. They are 11.5cm or 4.5 inches in diameter. I do not know the diameter of the MKB or the CLK55 bars. If anyone knows, please post the info. I do not think that the Renntech amd CLK55 bars are the same because visually, they appeared different to the mechanic that did the instal, performed differetly and i was able to get them in one week whereras the Eibach/CLK55 bars are not available. I do not know if the Renntech and MKB bars are the same,. Sleestack may wish to post the diameter of his bars since he has the MKB ones.

4.5 inch Diameter Sway bar? I don't think so, maybe 1-1.5 inches.
Are we talking spring here?
I'm a little confused?

If they sway bars are 115 mm thick, then I better understand there is no body roll

Better try and mesure them again

Ted could have meant 115 mm circumference...which would make the Renntech swaybars between 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch thicker then the CLK55......I guess that is possible from some of the other Renntech sways I have seen in the past.

Oberklasse quoted me $1680.00 for the CLK swaybars last year....way too much!!!

.............using the formular: Circumference= 2multiplied by pie, multiplied by radius, and using the constant 3.14 as pie and 115mm as the circumference............the radius of the Renntech front sway bar is 115 devided by 2X3.14 which is 18.3mm. This makes the diameter 36.6mm. There you have it.

So, that means the Renntech front sway bar is around 8mm thicker than the CLK 55 bar.
What about the rear?

For like $500 more, is that worth it?

Thanks

..............Ben, I don't have a problem with the CLk55?Eibach sway bars. They are simply not available. I know they can be special ordered from Germany, but that takes a while. The Renntech bars are available. I got mine within a week. They are more expensive but since they are thicker, the extra cost is justifiable.

I'm not putting down your bars either, as I have no experience with them to base it on. But from my experience, the CLK55 bars are perfect. Thicker does not necessarily mean better. Too thick can result in oversteer, more understeer, or loss of control easily.

I am getting pricing from Germany as we speak for the CLK55 bars. If anyone is interested, let me know, as like Ted Baldwin said, they aren't in the country.

Mach, I believe those Renntech bars are the same as the MKB bars on my car. I've never checked but maybe one of the guys in the shop can check.

.................These are not "my" bars. I don't work for Rentech. Infact I generally do not like Renntech because they a bit more expensive than is warranted. However, since the Clk55/Eibach bars are not available anymore from Eibach, I am trying to provide people with accurate info. There is no oversteer or understeer with the Renntech bars whatsoever. An experienced mechanic who has the CLK 55 bars in their car seems to think the Renntech ones offer less body roll. It may be the case that he Renntech bars are the same as the MKB bars in Sleestack's car. But no one knows so far. In summary the Renntech bars are great. According to you, the CLK55 bars are great also. Since only one of the two is available, anyone looking for sway bars has only one practical option. I just did not want to leave people with the wrong impression that there is any problem with the Renntech bars other than coost.
